Who this covers

Kingdom Realty trades under the agency licence of eXp New Zealand Ltd, the licensed agency under the Real Estate Agents Act 2008. When you deal with us, eXp New Zealand Ltd is the agency holding your information and we handle it under the Privacy Act 2020. What we collect

Only what the job needs, and almost all of it comes from you directly.

When you ask for an appraisal or make an enquiry: your name, email, phone number, the property address, and whatever you tell us about your situation and timing.
When you attend a viewing or open home: your name and contact details. Recording who attends is a normal part of running a campaign and it is how we report buyer interest back to a vendor.
When you become a client: the information needed to list and sell the property, and the customer due diligence required of us by the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009. That check is not optional for us and we cannot act for you until it is complete.
When you use this website: standard analytics, meaning pages viewed, approximate location and device type. We do not use this to identify you personally.

Why we hold it

To answer your enquiry, to appraise and market a property, to report to a vendor, to meet our obligations under the Real Estate Agents Act and the AML/CFT Act, and to keep in touch about property if you have asked us to. We do not sell your information to anyone, ever, and we do not pass your details to a third party so they can market to you.

Who else sees it

eXp New Zealand Ltd, as the licensed agency we operate under.
Our systems. Enquiry forms on this site are processed and held by Netlify Forms, the service that hosts this website, and we read the submissions from there. We do not pass what you send us to any other system.
Listing portals, where a property is advertised: Trade Me Property, realestate.co.nz and others. That covers property information, not your personal details.
Professionals working on your sale, where you have asked us to organise them: your solicitor, a photographer, a stager, a tradesperson, a building inspector.
Where the law requires it, including our AML/CFT obligations.

Some of these systems store information on servers outside New Zealand. Where that happens we use providers who are required to protect it to a comparable standard.

Keystone Advocacy

Kingdom Realty and Keystone Advocacy are under the same ownership, and they hold their information separately. Being a Kingdom Realty vendor does not put you on a Keystone Advocacy list, and being a Keystone Advocacy buyer does not put you on ours. If information ever needs to move between them, we ask you first.

How long we keep it

Enquiry information is kept while it is still useful and deleted when it is not. Client and transaction records are kept for at least seven years, because the Real Estate Agents Act and the AML/CFT Act require it. Where a law sets the period, that period wins.

Getting it, fixing it, or having it deleted

You can ask us what we hold about you and we will tell you. You can ask us to correct anything wrong and we will correct it. You can ask us to delete it and we will, unless a law requires us to keep it, in which case we will tell you which one. Email hello@kingdomrealty.co.nz and we will come back to you within 20 working days, which is the timeframe the Privacy Act sets.

If you are not happy with how we have handled it

Tell us first, at hello@kingdomrealty.co.nz, and we will deal with it. If we cannot resolve it between us, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz or 0800 803 909. Complaints about our conduct as a real estate agency are handled differently: see Complaints.
